Epic Progression
Progress through every WoW raid tier β from Molten Core to Icecrown Citadel
What is Epic Progression?
Epic Progression is Lordaeron's core gameplay system. Each character must defeat the final boss(es) of a raid tier to unlock the next one. Progression is per-character β not per-account or per-server. Every hero writes their own story, from the depths of Molten Core to the frozen throne of the Lich King. Everything runs on a WotLK 3.3.5a configuration β spells, talents, quests β but the content is unlocked progressively.
Death Knights & Vanilla
Death Knights are available as usual from level 55, but they are also subject to Epic Progression. Their starting gear stats have been rebalanced so they are not overpowered during the Vanilla tier.
Stay on Your Tier
You are never forced to move on. You can choose not to turn in the final quest and stay on your current tier as long as you want. This lets you create guilds, gather friends, and progress together at your own pace before moving to the next expansion.

Cross-Tier Restrictions
To ensure fair progression and prevent boosting, players from different tiers cannot interact in certain ways:
These restrictions exist to preserve the integrity of progression. They prevent boosting, ensure every player earns their progress, and maintain the challenge and complexity of each tier.
How to Progress
To advance from one tier to the next, you must complete a quest given by your faction's leader. After defeating the final boss of a tier, return to the quest NPC to validate your kill and unlock the next content tier. In Vanilla, speak to Varian Wrynn (Alliance) or Thrall (Horde). In TBC, seek out A'dal in Shattrath City. In WotLK, report to Rhonin in Dalaran.
